Project Overview
The project’s primary objective is to create an engaging and educational STEM along with a MOOC platform, enhancing the teaching of physics, art, math, robotics, technology, and other subjects to secondary school students. The robot serves as a tool to enrich the educational content, not as the primary subject of study.
S.T.E.P.S. focus on robotics as a tool to teach STEM.
Project Structure
The project is divided into several Work Packages (WPs):
- Work package n°1 – Project Management
- Work package n°2 – S.T.E.P.S. educational robot : Design and development of the open source educational robot (PR1/PR2/PR3/PR4)
- Work package n°3 – Manual for pre and in-service trainers
- Work package n°4 – S.T.E.P.S. School Box: a MOOC for all beginner learners from secondary school to lifelong learning
- Work package n°5 – Recommendation for HEI and guidelines to improve the training of pre-service secondary school trainers in STEM and robotics using S.T.E.P.S. results
The fourth Transnational Project Meeting (TPM4) of the S.T.E.P.S. project took place via Microsoft Teams. The meeting focused on the current status of work packages, upcoming deadlines, and the integration of DIMEM into the consortium. The meeting included participants from all project partners.
1. Project Management (WP1)
- Interim Report Feedback: The interim report received positive feedback, confirming the project’s alignment with its initial objectives. However, it was noted that more structured communication and dissemination efforts are needed.
- Next Payment: The second pre-financing payment is expected by the end of May 2025.
- Planning: Review and adjustment of the overall project timeline were discussed.
2. State of the Art (WP2)
- PR1 Report: Kim will send the draft PR1 report to Jairo for review by May 21, 2025.
- PR2, PR3, PR4 Reports: All partners must review and validate the draft reports by May 23, 2025.
- LTTA3: A Doodle poll will be resent by Christos or Nicos to confirm availability.
- E2 Multiplier Events: Two events to may be organized by ULS:
- One online in English with all partners.
- One onsite in French at MICEP University.
3. Manual for Pre- and In-Service Trainers (WP3)
PR5 is currently delayed by six months. However, all partners (HUA, SAPPLe, UBU, DIGICULT) are confident that this delay will not affect the final delivery in October 2025.
4. Launch of WP4 (S.T.E.P.S. School Box – MOOC)
- PR6 Development: GFOSS, SAPPLe, and DIMEM will lead this effort.
- Lesson Plans: Each country will contribute 5 lesson plans (20 in total). These can be either standalone or connected and should be uploaded to the GDrive by the end of June/beginning of July. Partners should also inform the SAPPLe team (Giannis, Giorgos, Thanasis, Aimilios).
- Translation: All lesson plans (20 total) will need to be translated from English into the respective national languages.
5. Next Steps and Action Items
- Finalize and distribute PR1 draft report for final review by the consortium => PR1 final report will then be uploaded on the project website (instead of the Springer Chapter due to confidentiality rules) by end of May/Beginning of June.
- Review and validate PR2, PR3, PR4 drafts by May 23, 2025.
- Confirm LTTA3 dates via Doodle.
- Plan and schedule E2 multiplier events.
- Upload lesson plans for PR6 by end of June/beginning of July.
- Ensure translations are completed before the final PR6 submission.
